Godishanang Empowerment Programme

Godishanang Empowerment Programme empowers survivors of gender based violence using an integrated approach that encompasses skills and entrepreneurial development through accredited training and workshops, as well as support towards psychological healing through coaching, counselling and mentorship.

Programme Initiatives include:

  1. Accredited Training in Sewing

The empowerment of women survivors in the programme include structural empowerment that entailed providing skills and capacity building for the women through the SETA accredited training in sewing as a means towards providing economic integration opportunities that enables women to become employable and/or pursue entrepreneurial and income generation opportunities.

Training takes place in the various provinces focusing on communities and areas highghly impacted by gender based violence.

  1. Dialogues & Workshops

Dialogues are held in the various provinces and serve as stakeholder engagement platforms, facilitating discussions amongst key partners including women survivors of gender based violence, communities, civil society organisations, as well as public and private sector partners. These dialogues are also used as a research tool to gather information and data that can be applied in addressing the root causes of gender-based violence, identifying preventative measures; whilst creating linkages towards establishing micro-enterprises and job opportunities for women to reclaim their lives and to become self-sufficient and self-reliant.

Dialogues engaging various partners and stakeholders were held in Eastern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and North-West,

  1. Mentorship and Coaching 

Integrated collaborations with civil society organisations, public and private sector partners in providing mentorship and coaching that allows women in the programme to tell  and share their stories as survivors of gender based violence and create safe spaces for developing peer2peer support. Peer2Peer support via sharing experiences, access information and resources, as well as finding solutions for personal growth and entrepreneurial development.
